Established in 1960, this institute has spent over six decades nurturing technical talent and fostering academic excellence. GP Purnea is strategically located and well-connected by road, rail, and air, making it easily accessible. We pride ourselves on offering a robust infrastructure that includes separate hostels for boys and girls, a Wi-Fi-enabled campus, smart classrooms, drawing halls, a modern gym, a cafeteria, and a well-stocked library with a dedicated reading room. To ensure cutting-edge technical training, the institute features a state-of-the-art Computer Lab with 150 high-performance systems, well-equipped laboratories, . We also believe in the balanced development of our students, which is reflected in our sports facilities—including a dedicated playground, volleyball, and badminton courts—and our highly anticipated annual inter- and intra-institute sports tournament, "UMANG.".

Administered under the aegis of the Department of Science, Technology & Technical Education (DSTTE), Government of Bihar, our primary mission is to deliver state-of-the-art academic programs and resources that drive the professional development of our students. We offer three-year Diploma programs across five core disciplines: Civil Engineering (CE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), and Computer Science Engineering (CSE). Our core objective is to maximize human potential, transforming intellectually capable and imaginatively gifted minds into future leaders of the engineering profession.

In our pursuit of continuous quality improvement and global standards, the institute is actively progressing toward National Board of Accreditation (NBA) status. As part of this strategic vision, we are currently forging partnerships and signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various centrally funded technical institutes and leading Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to bridge the industry-academia gap.
